Excellence for all.

As a product of the Sharon Public Schools and a proud resident of our community, I ask for your support in the election for a seat on the School Committee.

Vote May 21, 2024

We all have something at stake.

As residents of Sharon, we all benefit when our schools are well-run and striving for excellence.

Over the last decade, many of my childhood friends have started families and moved back to town. I decided to return, too, in order to be closer to them and be a presence in their families’ lives.

I’ve been fortunate to watch their kids grow up, and I have followed along as they’ve navigated their way through the school system.

I have also closely watched the workings of the School Committee. I believe we must continue to be a town that provides an excellent education for everyone; one that recruits, supports and retains the most effective educators.

My professional experience and government background make me well-suited for this role.

I’ve spent nearly 15 years in the fields of:

  • disability advocacy,

  • human resources,

  • equal employment opportunity,

  • and college admissions counseling.

I have also served in town government:

  • the student representative to the School Committee before I graduated from Sharon High School

  • and, currently, as a member of the Sharon Personnel Board.

Why I am running

  • The School Department and School Committee must be transparent, communicative, and best-practices-driven.

  • They must disseminate clear policies and procedures concerning equal educational opportunity; maintain honors and AP classes; support extracurricular programs that allow students to pursue passions; and monitor special education services in-district.

  • Students must receive services that: are consistent with their IEPs/504s, compliant with special education law, and equip students for success in the classroom and post-graduation. As a student with disabilities who had a mixed experience with special education services in Sharon, this is particularly important to me.

  • The school committee must also insist through policy that it receives regular updates on educational achievement, school climate, and teacher satisfaction metrics.
